During the footage, DeCerce acknowledges that the fundraising strategy revolves around taking money and saying what donors want to hear.
The video, allegedly taken by an undercover female journalist whose identity remains undisclosed, was made public by James O’Keefe, founder of O’Keefe Media. O’Keefe claimed that the journalist received a threatening postcard, urging her to halt the video’s release.
In the clip, DeCerce admits, “I like Kamala Harris, but I don’t think she’d win this year.” When asked for the reason behind this belief, he provides a critical analysis, highlighting Harris’s lack of popularity and suggesting that attacks against her are motivated by racism and misogyny.
DeCerce continues, noting that the role of the vice president lacks significant accomplishments and requires handling challenging tasks. He attributes the criticisms aimed at Harris to “racist, sexist bullsh*t” that wouldn’t be directed at a male candidate.
The Compliance Manager clarifies his duties within the organization, emphasizing his responsibility to report the DNC’s finances to the government. He points out that Joe Biden’s campaign lacks such a compliance manager.
When questioned about securing donations, DeCerce states, “You kind of tell a donor what they want to hear.” When pressed if this strategy always involves taking money and saying what donors want to hear, he responds affirmatively, adding, “Yeah, that’s politics.”
DeCerce also expresses his support for Biden’s debate with Trump, stating that it would have been politically necessary and downplaying its potential consequences for the president. Notably, the video appears to have been filmed before the debate took place on June 28.
The undercover journalist highlights concerns raised by some donors who perceive the campaign as struggling, to which DeCerce seemingly agrees, speculating that attacking Trump more aggressively might alleviate such doubts.
O’Keefe claims that the journalist, who initiated the meeting, arranged their encounters through the dating app Bumble.
