Abigail Disney, heir to the Disney family fortune, declared on Thursday that she will cease her donations to the Democratic Party if Joe Biden does not step down.
In an interview with CNBC [1], the granddaughter of Roy O. Disney made her stance clear, stating, “I plan to cut off any contributions to the party until they find a replacement for Biden at the helm.”
Asserting her position, Disney emphasized, “This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high… If Biden does not step down, the Democrats will lose. Of that, I am absolutely certain. The consequences for the loss will be genuinely dire.”
Disney’s announcement follows recent remarks by Netflix co-founder and prominent Democratic donor Reed Hastings, who voiced to the New York Times his belief that Biden should step aside.
Hastings expressed, “Biden must give way to enable a dynamic Democratic leader to defeat Trump and safeguard our nation’s well-being.”
