At least 87 individuals have lost their lives, and numerous others have been injured in a tragic stampede at a religious gathering in northern India, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.
The incident took place in a village within the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh state. Umesh Tripathi, a medical official, revealed that over 150 individuals were rushed to hospitals for treatment, and there is a looming possibility of the death toll rising further.

Local media reports indicate that the stampede unfolded as attendees hurriedly exited following a gathering featuring a religious leader known as Bhole Baba.

Rajesh Singh, a police officer, suggested [6] that overcrowding may have been a contributing factor to the tragic incident. Initial estimates point to an overwhelming turnout of over 15,000 individuals at the event, which had been permitted to host around 5,000 people.
Transportation of bodies to medical facilities and morgues was facilitated via trucks and private vehicles, according to government official Matadin Saroj.
