After verifying its location, the officers encircled the vehicle, but before they could make their move, the driver of the stolen truck rammed a marked police car while accelerating out of a parking space.

Surveillance footage revealed that four individuals emerged from the disabled truck and started running in different directions, with one of the suspects – a 17-year-old named Eric Lampkin-Scarborough – armed with a modified handgun that had an extended magazine and a switch.

The suspects faced several charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, evading detention on foot, aggravated assault of a public servant, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

The police recovered four weapons, including two that fell from the stolen truck, one found at the scene where Lampkin-Scarborough was shot, and another found during the search of the stolen vehicle. Two of the weapons were discovered to be stolen.
