Arizona School Employee Arrested for Sexual Conduct with Juvenile Runaway

A months-long investigation into a juvenile runaway has culminated in the arrest of 44-year-old Robyn Rogers of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Rogers faces three counts of sexual conduct with a minor, among other charges, as reported by Today’s News Herald [1].

Robyn Rogers, an alleged employee at Telesis Preparatory Academy, was arrested on Thursday. The school’s website had listed her as the athletics liaison, board of directors liaison, and a teacher of life skills and child development. Additionally, she was the cheerleading coach. As of Friday, her profile had been removed from the school’s website.

The investigation began on February 16 after the juvenile did not return home on February 14. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Lake Havasu City Police Department discovered that the 17-year-old male runaway was involved in a sexual relationship with Rogers, according to police.

After following multiple leads, officers believed the juvenile was hiding at a residence in Lake Havasu City. On Thursday at around 3 p.m., LHCPD’s Street Crimes Unit monitored the residence and contacted Rogers, suspecting she was harboring the runaway. Officers then observed the juvenile attempting to flee from the back of Rogers’ home, leading to a brief foot chase before he was apprehended.

In addition to the sexual conduct charges, Rogers faces charges of false reporting to law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering prosecution, and possession of narcotic drugs. She was held on a $25,000 cash bond for the sexual conduct charges and a $5,000 secured bond for the remaining charges. Rogers was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
