The sports world is well aware at this point of the drama between the Chicago Sky's Chennedy Carter and WNBA star Caitlin Clark. During their game Saturday  Carter was caught giving an aggressive hip check (accompanied with some choice words) to Caitlin Clark, spurring controversy and loads of discussion.

Immediately after the move, former college nemesis Angel Reese could be seen celebrating with her new Chicago Sky teammate Chennedy Carter. Since the event, both players have taken massive heat for their actions and response

Carter, for her part, refused to speak to reporters after the game,

But now as clear battle lines have been drawn, Angel Reese is speaking out saying that people aren't just watching the NBA for one person, referencing Clark.

Here's What They're Not Telling You About Your Retirement

Following the comments, where Reese also said she is happy to play the villain, fans and critics have weighed in with their thoughts on the matter. But regardless of which side someone is taking,  Clark's or her opponents, the fact remains that while there is more than one star in the league, Caitlin Clark has brought attention to the league.

And with that attention has come more nationally televised games, larger crowds and a buzz that previously did not exist.

Once a floundering mess supported by their partner NBA teams, the WNBA is now gaining some traction since the draft and addition of a high profile player like Caitlin Clark.

So in a sense Reese is correct, there are other women being watched in the league, but where she misses the mark is the fact that the television deals and hype were not there prior. The attention derived from Clark has allowed for the sports world to see just how much talent is in the WNBA, and is aiding in the development of new stars and personalities in the league.
