The Naval Academy women’s lacrosse team may have wrapped up their season back in May, but they recently captured the hearts of many with a patriotic pre-game ritual paying homage to the legendary Toby Keith.

In a pre-game pump-up session before facing off against Holy Cross in the Patriot League semifinal, the team broke out into a rousing rendition of Keith’s iconic anthem “Courtesy of the Red, White And Blue.” Led by freshman midfielder Sydney Beitler from Darnestown, Maryland, the team circled up with arms draped over one another’s shoulders, passionately belting out the song.

The video that surfaced on Instagram showcased the team’s camaraderie and spirit, culminating in Beitler playfully mimicking a “suckerpunch” at senior goalkeeper Anne Culicerto from Charlotte, North Carolina, in a playful nod to the song’s lyrics.

As the Naval Academy faced off against Holy Cross, the energy from their pre-game tribute seemed to fuel their performance on the field, with Emily Messinese and Tori DiCarlo both netting four goals each in a dominating 19-5 victory.

The viral video, which garnered attention after being reposted by OutKick, elicited an outpouring of praise from viewers impressed by the team’s patriotic display.

Commenters lauded the display, with one enthusiast writing, “This is the best thing you will see all day!!” while another remarked, “Not sure if women’s lacrosse is supposed to make you cry, but Navy’s Women’s Lacrosse certainly made me”
