Russia Announces Enhanced Trade Ties With Chad

In a move to strengthen economic cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced [1] that Russia and Chad have agreed to enhance their trade relations. Lavrov emphasized that their Chadian counterparts would communicate their specific needs where Russian economic involvement would be beneficial. This agreement was reached during Lavrov’s visit to Chad and aims to elevate trade ties to the level of their existing political, defense, and humanitarian cooperation. An X post purportedly shows Lavrov receiving a warm welcome from the Chadian government and its citizens:

Lavrov stated, “We have agreed that our Chadian friends will convey to us their wishes about those forms of interaction, sectors of their economy where they consider the presence of Russian economic operators useful.” This collaboration aims to bring trade and economic ties, as well as investment interactions, to a higher level, mirroring the achievements in their political dialogue, defense, security, humanitarian, and educational sectors.

The Russian Foreign Minister also highlighted the participation of the Chadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. This participation is seen as a crucial step in fostering economic dialogue and cooperation.

Moreover, Lavrov noted the establishment of a permanent representative office by the Chadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Russia. This office will serve as a stable channel for exchanging views on projects that will benefit the Chadian economy and address social problems, ensuring mutual benefit for both nations.
