Ricochet has informed WWE that he plans to leave the company when his contract expires this summer. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the situation between Ricochet and WWE is uncertain, as reported by Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson also reported that Ricochet is expected to be written out of WWE storylines soon, ahead of his contract expiration.
Ricochet, 35, is a former WWE Intercontinental Champion, WWE United States Champion, and WWE NXT North American Champion. He was also the first-ever WWE Speed Champion. Known for his exciting in-ring performances, a change in scenery might benefit him as he looks for new opportunities outside WWE.
With Ricochet’s departure looming, WWE has moved quickly to find his replacement as WWE Speed Champion. During the most recent tapings for WWE Speed, Andrade defeated Ricochet to win the title. Fightful Select, via Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News, reported that Andrade is expected to continue appearing on SmackDown Live during his title reign.
