A suspected terrorist [1] armed with a crossbow made a brazen attempt on the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade, injuring a Serbian police officer in the process.
Interior Minister Ivica Dacic revealed that the attacker fired a bolt from a crossbow at the officer, striking him in the neck. However, the officer, in an act of self-defense, utilized his firearm to neutralize the threat, resulting in the assailant succumbing to his injuries.
Following the incident, the injured officer was rushed to Belgrade’s primary emergency hospital, where doctors are slated to perform an operation to extract the bolt from his neck.
A spokesman from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported, “Today, there was an attempted terrorist attack in the vicinity of the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade.” He also confirmed that the embassy had been closed, emphasizing that none of its staff members sustained any injuries during the ordeal.
The identity of the attacker is currently under investigation, and all aspects of the assault, including any potential motives, are being scrutinized, according to Dacic. Although, it is being reported that this is the attacker:
