Minneapolis Mass Shooter Identified As Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed [VIDEOS]

Details are surfacing about the suspect involved in last week’s deadly ambush that claimed three lives, including a Minneapolis police officer, and left two others injured. Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed, 35, met his end in a fierce gunfight with Minneapolis officers in the Whittier neighborhood last Thursday. Responding to reports of gunshots at an apartment on Blaisdell Avenue, officers were caught off guard by Mohamed’s brutal ambush as they sought to assist.

Officer Jamal Mitchell, 36, heroically lost his life during the confrontation. Inside the apartment, a 32-year-old man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Mohamed, who had a long rap sheet dating back to 2006, was also killed in the exchange. His criminal history included convictions for first-degree burglary, trespassing, and providing false information to police. At the time of his death, he had an outstanding warrant from a 2022 robbery incident where he was seen armed in downtown Minneapolis.

Gateway Pundit reported: “A convicted felon who was banned from possessing firearms shot and killed a Minneapolis police officer…”

The shootout also left another Minneapolis police officer, a firefighter, and a bystander with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are still withholding further details about the incident.

In a press conference, Governor Tim Walz, along with Minneapolis Police Department and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension leaders, stood in solidarity with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. Mayor Frey honored Officer Mitchell, stating, “The City of Minneapolis lost a hero in police officer Jamal Mitchell. This officer gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect and save the lives of others. His life, his service, and his name will forever be remembered in the City of Minneapolis.”

Frey continued, “[Mitchell] was a hero, a son, a father, a fiancé, an officer whose so deeply committed to protecting and serving, he would run towards danger when the rest of us would run away. We will never forget what he did for the people of our city. The lives that he protected, the lives that he saved. We have several other victims, beloved community members who were killed in this incident. Our whole city is now grieving.”

MINNEAPOLIS – A devastating shooting incident unfolded in Minneapolis on Thursday evening, resulting in the loss of three lives, city officials and WCCO sources reported. Among the victims were a police officer and two civilians, with the suspect also confirmed deceased. Another police officer sustained critical injuries, as revealed by CBS Minnesota [3].

The crisis began when law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located in the 2200 block of Blaisdell Avenue South, situated in the Whittier neighborhood, according to a news release from the city of Minneapolis.

Following the distressing events, two officers were rushed to a hospital, but the situation took a tragic turn with the news of one of the wounded officers succumbing to their injuries, as announced by the Minneapolis Police and Peace Officers Association, the union representing Minneapolis police.

Expressing grief over the loss, the union’s executive director, Brian Peters, noted, “Once again, a police officer bravely faced danger and tragically lost his life protecting the community.”

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remained shrouded in uncertainty, prompting authorities to schedule a late-night news conference on Thursday to address the unfolding situation.

Eyewitness accounts of the incident painted a harrowing picture, with residents describing the sound of gunshots echoing through the neighborhood.

Reuben Molina, a local resident, recounted, “Me and my girlfriend, we heard really loud banging at first. Then we heard it again and again and again in rapid succession. And me and her were like, ‘Oh that’s gunshots.'”

In response to the crisis, multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, mobilized to the scene. Authorities issued warnings urging the public to steer clear of the impacted area.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz extended support, stating in a tweet, “The State of Minnesota stands ready to provide any resources necessary. Praying for all the first responders on the ground working to keep the community safe.”

As nightfall approached, the Minneapolis Police Department indicated that the situation remained dynamic and under active assessment.

Collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies were evident, with officers from the St. Paul Police Department aiding in patrols within Minneapolis, as confirmed by St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, who expressed solidarity in the face of the tragedy.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting in Minneapolis tonight,” Mayor Carter lamented. “We are praying for our colleagues and the entire Minneapolis community.”
