The Colchester police are seeking public assistance in locating Andrew Brace, 39, of St. Albans, after he allegedly dragged an officer with a car, resulting in the officer’s injury. Brace faces potential charges, including aggravated assault and eluding police.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning when Colchester police responded to a report of two unresponsive individuals in a car on Conquest Circle at approximately 4:20 a.m. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the car had been reported stolen from Burlington.
According to the police account, officers were able to rouse one of the individuals in the car, identified as Brace. However, as they attempted to take him into custody, Brace allegedly reversed the car, dragging a Colchester officer approximately 50 feet before fleeing the scene.
In an effort to seek Brace’s whereabouts, the police have released body-camera footage capturing the officers’ attempt to apprehend him.
The officer who was dragged sustained non-life-threatening injuries
At the time of the incident, Brace was driving a stolen dark blue Genesis G809 with the Colorado license plate D0UT58.
The Colchester police urge anyone with information on Brace’s location or the stolen vehicle to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
