According to reports, Houston approached the family as they sat inside their vehicle at the business location. Despite being warned and even offered an alternative vehicle, Houston allegedly attempted to steal the car, prompting the man to open fire, resulting in Houston being shot. The fatal encounter unfolded less than an hour following Houston’s release from jail on charges related to assault and family violence.
Following the shooting, Houston was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Law enforcement officials indicated that surveillance footage from the business corroborated the man’s version of events leading up to the shooting. Based on the evidence and circumstances, authorities have stated that no charges are anticipated against the man involved in the shooting, reasoning that the incident appears to be a case of self-defense.
Nevertheless, as standard protocol, the case will be forwarded to the Angelina County District Attorney’s Office for further review and consideration.
