Kevin Costner Hints at Possible Return to “Yellowstone”

Kevin Costner has not closed the door on returning to the hit TV series “Yellowstone.” In a recent CBS Sunday Morning [1] interview, the Academy Award-winning actor expressed willingness to reprise his role as John Dutton if the storyline appeals to him. “Yeah, if I liked the story, where it was going, I would go back,” Costner said.

Costner emphasized that his departure from “Yellowstone” was not to focus solely on his latest project, “Horizon: An American Saga.” “I did everything that I was contracted to do with ‘Yellowstone,'” he explained. The actor also hinted at potential legal action over unpaid funds related to his time on the show, which emerged during his recent court battle over child support with his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner.

Costner’s commitment to “Horizon” was a significant factor in the scheduling conflicts that arose with “Yellowstone.” He revealed that he was offered $24 million to continue with the series for seasons 5, 6, and 7, but the show was canceled due to scheduling issues. “I will probably go to court over it,” he remarked about receiving payments for the latest seasons.

Despite the legal and personal challenges, Costner remains focused on his ambitious post-Civil War drama, “Horizon,” set to debut on June 28. The film, co-written and directed by Costner, marks a significant investment of his own money, reportedly $38 million. The star-studded cast includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, and Costner’s 15-year-old son, Hayes Logan Costner.

“I’m like a wagon headed west,” Costner shared, reflecting on his journey. “I have to hold onto the rope because I have this pact with the audience that I have to give them something. I want them to go West.”
