In a fresh report published on June 25, 2024, the Committee on the Judiciary, its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence revealed significant details about how 51 former intelligence officials coordinated with the Biden campaign before the 2020 presidential election. They reported that these officials aimed to discredit allegations regarding the Biden family by labeling them “Russian disinformation.” The House Judiciary GOP posted the report to X earlier today:

Dennis Quaid’s #1 Warning for Americans

The investigation indicates that the operation began with a call from Antony Blinken, then a top Biden campaign official and now Secretary of State, to Michael Morell, former Deputy Director of the CIA. This call allegedly prompted Morell to draft a public statement signed by the 51 former intelligence officials, suggesting that a New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s laptop was part of a Russian disinformation campaign. The statement was then used by Joe Biden during a televised debate to counter accusations made by President Trump.

Conservatives say that high-ranking CIA officials, including then-Director Gina Haspel, were aware of the statement before its publication. Internal communications reportedly revealed that the CIA’s Prepublication Classification Review Board (PCRB) expedited the review process for this statement, highlighting its unusual and urgent nature. The PCRB even involved the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), which ultimately deferred to the CIA’s judgment.

There were concerns Within the CIA about the statement’s political nature. Some employees reportedly expressed frustration and warned that such actions did not benefit the agency’s long-term credibility. These internal disagreements highlight the contentious environment surrounding the statement’s creation and release.

The report concludes that the statement from the 51 former intelligence officials was a deliberate attempt to influence the 2020 election by discrediting damaging allegations against the Biden family. The Committees recommend that reforms be instituted to prevent the intelligence community from being used for partisan political purposes in the future.
