All four individuals, including the suspect, are expected to survive, as confirmed by Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum. The victims, a 47-year-old man from Grayson, a 69-year-old woman from East Point, and a 70-year-old woman from Atlanta, were reportedly engaged in a “brief altercation” with the suspect before being shot. The suspect, a 34-year-old man from Morrow, south of Atlanta, had a history of arrests and served time for armed robbery, which should have prevented him from possessing a firearm, according to Schierbaum.
The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m. and was swiftly addressed by an off-duty Atlanta police officer working security at the food court. The responding officer’s decisive actions were commended by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens during a news conference, where he asserted that the situation could have been much worse if not for the officer’s intervention.

While the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the mall’s video cameras have recorded the entire incident, allowing for a comprehensive review of the events.
In the aftermath of the shooting, eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as patrons sought refuge and attempted to comprehend the sudden violence that unfolded in the bustling food court.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, Dickens acknowledged the valor and prompt response of the law enforcement officer, underscoring their pivotal role in diffusing the threat to public safety.
The Peachtree Center complex, known for its office towers and an underground mall situated within downtown Atlanta, is a hallmark of the city’s convention business, housing multiple hotels. In the wake of the shooting, the sense of unease and shock was palpable among the onlookers and nearby residents, underscoring the lingering impact of such traumatic events on the community.
As the investigation into the shooting continues, the city of Atlanta grapples with the aftermath of a disturbing and sudden act of violence that has reverberated through the heart of its downtown district.

The poll clearly shows the desire of the public to arm themselves and have recourse to lethal attack.I’d rather have a chance to shoot back than to stand there and be a target for some demented idiot.
May we please see a picture of the democrat shooter? We know he’s not white since you’re withholding the info.
We are witholding? LOL. OR, it wasn’t available or disclosed.
then why not add a note that gubmint is withholding information ?
We report what they release. Connect the dots.
you are reporting, as journalists, aren’t you??? If so, perhaps “quote” your questioning of who was the perp, and if no answer is forthcoming, state such . . . instead you “waltz on by” whistling past the graveyard so to speak . . .
Withholding is a real word and it has a meaning. I always just hope I spell it correctly.
You’re a DF, roy.
Why are you censoring comments?
Pussy.
A cop protecting something other than government property and employees? Must’ve been a rookie who slept through his indoctrination courses!
This is where people shop who are in town for conventions and general tourism. Years ago (1980’s) there was a festival in that area called Light Up Atlanta. Muggings, gun fire, theft, assaults made the whole thing just terrible and the mayor at that time cancelled it for good. Downtown has a big convention economy. The city better clean this up or else the conventions will go away. Frankly as a life time resident of Atlanta I wouldn’t go to a convention downtown at all.
Hey liberal anti gun nuts….Notice how the law didn’t keep a felon from having a gun and committing a crime? Notice how a good guy with a gun saved lives? School is out.
>”Gunman”
>Could have been a black african illegal alien trans-man with a vagina
“The suspect, a 34-year-old man from Morrow, south of Atlanta, had a history of arrests and served time for armed robbery, which should have prevented him from possessing a firearm, according to Schierbaum.”
Yeah, that law will prevent gun possession, for sure! Why didn’t it work?? LOL!
Every black male has a handgun to protect him from every other black male. The only way to solve the gun crime problem in the black neighborhoods is to permanently lock up all the bad players, and democrats will not let this happen.
