CityServe, a California-based Christian organization dedicated to community service, is hosting a "Day of Gratitude" in Las Vegas on June 8. This event aims to honor America's veterans and their families with a day filled with music, fun, and charitable activities.

"We're calling it the ‘Day of Gratitude,’" said CityServe co-founder and CEO Dave Donaldson during an interview with Fox News Digital. The event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, marking a significant moment in military history.

CityServe, headquartered in Bakersfield, collaborates with churches across the globe to provide hope and assistance to needy families. On June 8, Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, will host this heartwarming event.

Donaldson shared, "We're going to donate over $3 million worth of what we're calling ‘gratitude gifts’ to America's military veterans and their families." The program will feature performances by musicians Walker Hayes and Danny Gokey, award-winning magician Garry Carson, and a massive kid's zone. The "gratitude gifts" include toys, shoes, and essential items like diapers and wipes, addressing often-overlooked needs of military families. CityServe has partnered with EveryLife, a diaper company, to support these families through their "buy for a cause" program.

"Too many of these [military] families live under the poverty line," noted Donaldson. "And they've told us one of the greatest needs they have is for diapers and wipes."

At the event, hundreds of pallets of goods will be distributed to the 15,000 registered attendees. "This is one of the greatest opportunities in our lifetime to show our gratitude," Donaldson emphasized.

Despite reaching its maximum number of registrants, the overwhelming response highlights the critical need for such events. Donaldson expressed his concern over the high suicide rates among veterans and the food insecurity faced by active-duty military families.

Donaldson explained that many veterans today feel forgotten by their communities. "We want to provide hope, but also tangible help," he said. "We're going to honor, but we're also going to serve these heroes. And we want their kids and their grandkids to know how grateful we are as we honor their parents and grandparents."

The "Day of Gratitude" represents a collaboration of over 20 veteran organizations and local churches committed to strengthening their communities. Donaldson hopes to bring this event to other sports venues across the country in the future. "We honor them. We're going to serve them. But they're not alone. We're with them and with their families."
