Witnesses and the victim provided descriptions of the suspect and the weapon used, leading detectives to positively identify Merritt as the shooter.
On Wednesday, June 19, Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Merritt with first-degree battery, setting his bond at $75,000. If Merritt manages to post bond, he will be required to wear an ankle monitor and comply with a no-contact order issued by the judge.
