Korean Air Flight 189 left Seoul on Saturday but suffered a major problem mid-air that left 17 people injured. According to flight tracker data, the plane dropped 25,000 feet and flew in circles several times before diverting back to Seoul. The unexpected situation occurred after the flight reached the southern tip of the Korean peninsula and was en route to Taichung, Taiwan. The data revealed that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 made a sudden steep descent of about 4.75 miles, injuring 17 of its 125 passengers when its pressurization system failed.

Confirming the incident, Korean Air conveyed its apology to the affected passengers and said it is fully cooperating with relevant authorities to investigate the problems. Fox Business emphasized in its report that all the 17 passengers that ended up requiring medical treatment have been treated and discharged with no severe injuries.

Additionally, South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport confirmed that 15 passengers hyperventilated and suffered eardrum pain during the sudden drop. The affected passengers have been given accommodation, meals, and other arrangements to help ease their situation, according to a Korea Air representative.
"Our commitment to the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remains unchanged," the representative added. "We apologize to all affected by this incident."

I am 81, and though not current, I learned to fly Cessna 150’s and 172’s, got Private Pilot License,
Commercial License and Instrument Rating. I watch Aviation Disasters on Cable. I worked weekends
at a small CT airport. Have flown to Florida, and Wisconsin. Something is wrong, and it is not just
the maintenance of commercial planes in USA, it is across the Globe. Boeing and Airbus are the two
large commercial aircraft builders, and it seems that Boeing is having more problems. However, I do
not know how many Boeing planes are flying vs Airbus, though I think it might be more Boeing. Modern
commercial airliners have very sophisticated computers/instruments. I just have the feeling that the more
“gadgets” in the cockpit, the more that can and apparently is going wrong. I also believe that perhaps
today’s aviation mechanics across the Globe are not always able to maintain/diagnose spot problems
before they happen up in the air. Computers are great, but they DO have a downside. When a
computer says to the plane do such and such, it could be wrong, or the tiny mechanical part is failing
and should have been cleaned or replaced. Always wear your seat belt, and wear clothes made of
NATURAL fibers, such as cotton, linen or wool NOT synthetic. In a fire, the synthetic fabric will MEL
to your skin. The other thing is that most of America’s pilots were ex-military fighter pilots and had
combat experience. I am glad we have not been in a shooting war for some time now, but many of
our new airline pilots learned in simulators, and I think that more actual COMBAT experience where
INSTANT reaction required to stay alive and take the enemy out, it needed. I know Boeing and Airbus
must sell planes to stay in business, but they need to train mechanics and have them spend weeks and
months training the mechanics in each nation that buys their planes. Every piece of the airplane has
its own MAINTENANCE MANUAL. It is way more complicated then being a motor vehicle mechanic.
The 737 Max has a severe design flaw and should be outright removed from service. The plane design is prone to stall. Boeing has the awful MCAS system to aid the pilot to prevent stall by automatically push the nose down based on airflow conditions. If it gets bad readings it will push the nose down at the wrong times.
I could “code” on DEC VAX117-8 BY summer 1980. When I was “ON FIRE” for digital, I had applied with GE for work and research in avionics-All I got was “WHO gave you this information???”, “HOW did you find us?”(in an industrial park), “HOW did you find out about this???” I was treated as if i had broken NUMEROUS federal LAWS JUST KNOWING that electronics (i.e. mission critical systems) were used in avionics. AND I was a white Christian alpha male-I think THAT was the problem….so I went on to enterprise IT, until just after 9/11, when we were all bum rushed OUT of our jobs and told to “learn to code” for the COMMERCIAL internet….
NOW, we know why.
If it’s Boeing, I ain’t going.
In fact, I am finished with flying altogether regardless of airline or equipment. I am glad I did my traveling back when it was safe and enjoyable.

China likely hacked the planes “fly by wire” controls. China is trying to take over the world’s airline construction business. They must discredit Boeing to do this.

Malfunction? This is air travel by remote control, via the CCP.
So, the pressurization failed and the pilots took the plane down to 10K as proscribed by policy. The plane WAS controlled in the descent.

The whole Boeing 737 MAX series should be completely removed from service. It has an inherently unsafe design that cannot be fixed. MCAS cannot be fixed to solve the design problems.
Not an earth shattering event…. a pressurization problem does not happen often but does happen. Lots of mechanical issues happen everyday all day in the commercial aviation industry thats why mechanics are readily available at each airport. How many times have you been delayed because of a mechanical issue when you fly? That mechanical problem likely occurred in flight and was not an issue due to a secondary system and was an issue for the crew to deal with but the passengers never knew.
What a load of garbage! This is standard procedure for depressurization. It isn’t a “Plunge” it is a controlled descent to 10,000 feet so people can breathe normally without a mask. Leave it to the MSM to totally f**k it up.

On the bright side, those passengers aren’t stuck on the ISS due to a defective Boeing rocket.
I saw an article a couple weeks ago that blamed Boeing for a 737-400 tire blowout.
The plane is over 20 years old and has had numerous sets of tires by now.
