During her speech, Ashley conveyed the importance of children feeling “loved, accepted, and supported,” emphasizing the challenging circumstances faced by LGBTQ children in unaccepting homes.
Yet, about a quarter of the way into her 4-minute talk, Ashley stumbled over the widely recognized acronym representing sexual orientations and gender identities, blurting out “LGBCT” before quickly correcting herself with “LGBTQ.”
The slip did not go unnoticed, as Republicans and social media users wasted no time in poking fun at the familiar verbal fumble. The Republican National Committee’s RNC Research account on social media even shared a video of the moment, teasing, “L-G-B-what now?”
Amidst the chuckles and snickers, a chorus of snark reigned on social media, with users quipping that verbal hiccups must surely be hereditary and suggesting that such incidents are simply ‘in the family.’

Notably absent from the Pride Month celebration was Joe Biden, who was reported to be preparing for the upcoming debate with former President Donald Trump at his Camp David retreat in Maryland.
Despite Ashley’s verbal stumble, she made sure to highlight her father’s administration as “the most pro-equality administration in history” during her remarks.
