Armed Suspect Repeatedly Shot In Front Of Houston Convenience Store By Police [VIDEO]

Houston police have pressed charges against the individual linked to a police shooting incident that occurred on the Thursday night of May 9.

Authorities have officially charged 36-year-old Christopher Michael Rodriguez with aggravated assault of a public servant, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.

The incident unfolded on Thursday at approximately 8:20 p.m. when HPD Officer Eakins responded to a call at 600 East Tidwell Road following reports of gunshots. Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Eakins encountered a man, later identified as Rodriguez, who was armed with a pistol and seen running in front of a local store.

Despite the officer’s commands to drop the firearm, Rodriguez reportedly continued to flee in the opposite direction while still wielding the weapon, according to authorities.

Officer Eakins recounted demanding that Rodriguez disarm himself once more. As Rodriguez pivoted with the weapon in his possession, Officer Eakins, feeling his safety was at risk, discharged his weapon multiple times, ultimately striking Rodriguez.

Christopher Michael Rodriguez was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by officials.
