Four individuals were killed and nine others injured after a driver crashed into a Long Island nail salon on Friday. The minivan smashed into the Hawaii Nail & Spa storefront at 794 Grand Boulevard in Deer Park, trapping customers and employees inside. The incident occurred just after 4:30 p.m. The storefront was left severely damaged, with shattered glass and a shredded ceiling in its wake.

Deer Park Third Assistant Chief Dominic Albanese stated that people were trapped inside the salon and were extricated and transported to nearby hospitals. The Deer Park Fire Department referred to the incident as a "mass casualty event," prompting over 150 firefighters and EMS workers to respond.

 

 

Four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, all of whom were believed to be inside the salon. Nine others sustained serious injuries and were taken to area hospitals, with one person airlifted for treatment. The driver of the van was among the survivors, and records indicated no prior traffic violations. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
