Kentucky authorities have arrested a couple for child endangerment and drug possession after discovering their baby sitting in a maggot-infested stroller with drugs inside. The incident occurred when Tiffany McCord, 34, and Thomas Parker, 30, were approached by Madisonville police last Friday following complaints from neighbors about their behavior.

The couple was discovered walking into an abandoned house with the child in tow, and when police arrived, Parker fled the scene, leaving McCord and the baby alone. Upon inspection, officers found a plastic bag containing synthetic drugs next to the child’s medicine in McCord’s purse attached to the stroller.

McCord denied owning the drugs, but did admit to smoking marijuana the previous day. Meanwhile, Madisonville police made a disturbing discovery regarding the wellbeing of the child – being situated atop a pile of live maggots inside the stroller.

The following day, Parker was arrested on an outstanding warrant and described himself as the baby’s father who shared caregiving duties with McCord. While Parker denied ownership of the drugs, he did say that he was asked to clean the baby’s stroller and only cleaned part of it.

In light of the findings, both individuals now face charges of child endangerment, drug possession, and drug trafficking. Parker is being held on a $3,500 bond, with a court hearing scheduled for June 7. McCord, who faces slightly more charges, including wanton endangerment, faces a similarly scheduled court hearing and a $2,500 bond. This disturbing incident has prompted outrage from the community and a renewed focus on child welfare laws.
