Fort Wayne, Indiana – An unsettling incident unfolded at a Kroger grocery store on East State Blvd. when 20-year-old Richard Klaff Jr. was arrested for a shooting that left three individuals wounded. Klaff Jr. is now facing three counts of attempted murder and one count of criminal recklessness, carrying a potential 126-year prison sentence.
According to a probable cause affidavit by Fort Wayne Police, Klaff Jr. took to Facebook Live from a store restroom, proclaiming his intentions to shoot eleven people before emerging and brandishing a gold and black handgun. As he live-streamed the chilling events, he asked viewers which person he should shoot and demonstrated the gun to them.

In a disturbing turn of events, Klaff Jr. was heard saying, “I ain’t going to kill no old a– man” as he bypassed an elderly individual. He then aimed his firearm at a customer and two employees near the store’s bakery section, firing multiple shots before fleeing the scene amidst a tirade of profanity and a racial slur.
Following a brief stint across the street at a bank, Klaff Jr. was apprehended by authorities, who recovered his gun, phone, and wallet from a dumpster nearby. Investigative efforts revealed gunshot holes in the vicinity of where the victims were positioned during the harrowing incident.
During police questioning, the suspect disturbingly confessed to his actions, expressing a desire to end someone’s life. Klaff Jr. confessed, “That’s all I wanted to do, I was supposed to go to the military. I couldn’t wait on that, obviously.” His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday as the community grapples with the shocking aftermath of this violent episode.
