The shooting took place on May 13 during a tense argument between the two men on Starline Meadow Place near Lake Mead Boulevard and Anasazi Drive. Details emerged when Eddi Moreno’s wife made a frantic 911 call, reporting that a neighbor was causing a disturbance and exposing himself.

During the call, she stated, “This guy who just moved in next door is tweaking out. He keeps on grabbing his (expletive).” Moments later, a series of gunshots were fired.

According to documents obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators, the argument escalated when Joe Moreno stood on a large boulder, exposed his genitals, and made explicit gestures towards Eddi Moreno and a witness. Eddi Moreno warned Joe not to approach and instructed his wife to call 911 while retrieving his gun.

Despite the warning, Joe continued to advance, reaching into his pants as Eddi opened fire, critically injuring him. Joe Moreno was discovered wounded in his driveway and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Authorities discovered five cartridge casings in the vicinity.

Further investigation revealed that earlier in the day, Joe Moreno and a witness engaged in a separate altercation that resulted in him being locked out of his residence. Subsequently, a doorbell camera captured a heated exchange between Eddi and Joe moments before the fatal shooting.

In the recorded conversation, Eddi could be heard threatening Joe, stating, “You’re going to get (expletive) up right here.” In response, Joe pleaded, “Goddamn it, you’re going to kill me.” Eddi Moreno then declared his intention to murder Joe, expressing his anger over the incident involving his children.

Alongside the bail amount, the court ordered Eddi Moreno to have no contact with the victim’s girlfriend and prohibited him from possessing firearms on his property.

Eddi Moreno’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 13.
