Brooklyn, New York – In a horrifying turn of events, the New York Police Department (NYPD) was compelled to use lethal force against a suspect wielding a knife, wanted for his alleged involvement in a double murder case over the weekend.

The tragic incident unfolded in Bath Beach, near the intersection of Bay 44th Street and Harway Avenue, shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.

At a subsequent news conference, Chief of Patrol John Chell revealed that an NYPD patrol car equipped with license plate reading technology had successfully identified a vehicle owned by a person wanted in connection with a double murder in East Flatbush, which occurred on Sunday.

According to Chief Chell, the officers circled the block to verify the license plate before approaching the suspect, identified as Jason Pass, a resident of Brooklyn, who was seated inside his parked car at the time of the encounter.

As the officers approached, Pass suddenly exited the vehicle, clutching a knife, and quickly began to flee on foot, recounted Chief Chell. Unwavering in their duty to protect the public, the officers initiated a pursuit of Pass, tracking him until he reached Bay 44th Street, where they wisely decided to await additional backup.

During this crucial interval, law enforcement engaged in a 15-minute dialogue with Pass, repeatedly demanding that he drop the weapon in the interest of his own safety and that of the officers involved.

Regrettably, Pass showed no signs of acquiescence, brazenly charging at the officers with the knife held aloft at a disturbingly rapid pace, Chief Chell explained. In response to this imminent threat, the officers discharged their firearms four times, striking Pass three times in the torso and once in the leg.

Subsequently, Pass was expeditiously transported to a nearby hospital; however, despite the medical intervention provided, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Earlier reports from authorities indicated that Bladimy Mathurin, aged 47, and Chinwai Mode, aged 27, were fatally shot in the hallway of their East Flatbush apartment building at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Sunday.

Law enforcement sources revealed that Pass, the now-deceased suspect, had been a neighbor involved in an ongoing dispute with Mathurin and Mode, stemming from a noise complaint.

Police officials further disclosed that Pass had a prior arrest record for robbery before becoming a suspect in the double murder investigation, underscoring his alleged propensity towards violence.

When pressed for details regarding the exchange between Pass and the officers before he lunged towards them with the knife, Chief Chell revealed that Pass ominously stated, “This won’t end well.”
