Casgraux, a 41-year-old self-described international businesswoman, aimed to represent Oregon’s 1st Congressional District in the House. Before her political aspirations, she worked as a dominatrix, charging clients up to $500 per hour for her services. However, when a video of her past occupation was leaked online earlier this year, Casgraux was initially caught off guard and experienced feelings of panic and despair.

“I was just panicking…Then I was like, Who did this? And I just started calling every single person that I pretty much knew from my past…I was like hyperventilating, crying,” Casgraux recalled. Furthermore, Casgraux voiced her astonishment at the double standards in Congress, highlighting the presence of sex purchasers while sex workers remain marginalized. This discrepancy in the treatment of individuals within the sex industry continues to be a topic of concern for her.

Despite the initial scrutiny, Casgraux’s campaign has persisted. While it has received basically zero financial support, about an hour and a half’s work in her previous occupation ($757 from a total of 13 donors,) her tenacity remains unyielding. Alongside her stance on abortion rights and the decriminalization of certain drugs in Oregon, she aspires to make a difference by empowering women to embrace their past and pursue political careers without fear or shame.
