The incident was captured on the eastbound lane near the Gramercy Place overpass, according to a comparison between the video footage and Google Maps imagery. The recording was made by either a driver or a passenger in a vehicle that was passing by. The video starts with a minimum of four individuals, all dressed in dark, hooded outfits and masks, stepping out of a minivan and dashing towards a damaged and smoldering vehicle parked on the right shoulder of the freeway. The driver of this car is seen kneeling on the ground with both hands raised.

The group is seen going through the contents of the victim’s car, while another man nearby seems to be capturing the event on his mobile phone. The California Highway Patrol reported that no one was injured in this incident, and the perpetrators are still at large, having left the scene.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the spokesperson for the Highway Patrol mentioned that although he was aware of the video, he had not personally seen it. He also could not verify whether the video was officially part of their ongoing investigation but indicated that efforts would be made to acquire it.
